I have read that “Behind every man now alive stand thirty ghosts”.

On the earth, approximately 100 billion people have appeared and disappeared. They say that number is the same as the stars twinkling in the sky.

When you stand at a ordinary crossroads in front of your house, or on a dry canyon in a foreign land,

they stand there without telling anything. They stand there sometimes in a shape of a cafe, sometimes a rock, or sometimes some kind of a machine.

When I feel their presence, a comfortable loneliness envelops me. This is a type of communication that is beyond time and space.

In both the large mountains, as well as in the small town I live in, we may be looking for the answer to what it means to “face people” in this world existing inside a frame of the universe.

『今生きている人間の背後には30人の幽霊が立っている』という話を聞いたことがある。
地球の上ではかつて、およそ1千億人の人々が現れては去っていった。 その数は夜空に輝く星の数と同じだそうだ。
 
家の前のいつもの交差点で、または異国の渇いた大渓谷に立った時にでも 彼らは何を語るでもなくそこに佇んでいる。
それは喫茶店の形をしていたり岩だったり、何かの機械だったりする。

彼らの気配を感じ取った時、心地よい感覚が僕を包み込んでくれる。 それは時間や空間を超えたコミュニケーションなのだ。
 
遠いの国の大きな山脈や、自分が暮らしているこの小さな街も 宇宙という枠組みの中に存在しているこの世界で
『人と向き合うこと』とはどういうことなのか 答えを探しているのかもしれない。
